Devlog #3
🔦 Introduction
Since our last update, we’ve been hard at work bringing more life — and madness — into Rooms of Delirium. This time, our focus has been on deepening the visual and physical presence of the world: from the way the main character moves, to how light interacts with the environment, and how the experience evolves across multiple levels.
Every new addition aims to make the descent into delirium feel more tangible — a journey you can see, feel, and fear.
🎠What’s New
The biggest update comes with the new textures and animations for the main character. Every step, turn, and idle moment now feels more alive and reactive. The animations better reflect the player’s state of mind, adding subtle tension even in stillness.
We’ve also introduced a new flashlight collision system, allowing light to properly interact with the environment. Shadows now respond realistically to walls and objects, creating a stronger sense of depth and claustrophobia. Exploring dark hallways feels more oppressive than ever — and every flicker of light could reveal something unsettling.
Additionally, we’ve begun laying the groundwork for multiple levels. Each new area introduces different atmospheres and environmental storytelling elements, setting the stage for a more expansive and unpredictable experience as you progress through the game.

🚪 What’s Next
Looking forward, our next milestones will focus on:
-
Expanding the level system into a full multi-stage experience.
-
Refining texture blending and ambient lighting between rooms.
-
Adding unique madness-based effects tied to specific levels.
-
Balancing movement and animation timing for smoother transitions.
We’re also planning a new internal playtest soon to evaluate how the lighting and multi-level design affect pacing and tension.
🕯️ Closing Thoughts
With each update, Rooms of Delirium grows closer to becoming the full psychological labyrinth we envision. Light is no longer just a tool — it’s part of the experience, shaping both safety and terror.
As always, we’re excited to keep you with us on this descent into madness.
Stay in the light… while you still can.
