Devlog #5

Hello everyone!

We’re back with another development update for Rooms of Delirium, and this one comes packed with new additions and polish. Over the past weeks, we’ve been focusing on both gameplay and atmosphere, and the project is starting to feel much more cohesive.

✨ New Enemies

One of the biggest updates this time is the addition of new enemy types.
Each one features unique movement , bringing more variety and challenge to encounters throughout the rooms. These new behaviors help make gameplay feel more dynamic and push players to adapt during exploration.

We’re still fine-tuning their stats and AI, but the improvement in pacing is already noticeable.

🏚️ Level Structure & Decoration

We’ve also been working on the main level layout, establishing the base structure and adding decoration to give each area distinct personality.

Rooms now feel more connected visually, and this helps us better test enemy placement, pacing, and general player flow throughout the level.

🎵 Ambient Music

Atmosphere is crucial for the experience we’re building, so we introduced the first pass of ambient music.

We’re experimenting with tense tones, distorted textures, and layered sounds to reinforce the psychological feel of the game. It’s still a work in progress, but it already adds a lot to the emotional rhythm of each section.

📘 Tutorial Level in Development

We’ve also started working on the tutorial level, ensuring new players can understand the core mechanics without breaking immersion.

The goal is to teach movement, interaction, and early combat in a way that feels natural and intuitive.

🎬 Credits Screen

A first version of the credits screen has been implemented as well.
It’s functional and will be refined visually as we polish the rest of the UI.

⏸️ Pause Menu

Lastly, we added a pause menu, an essential feature for the overall game experience. Right now it includes the basics, but it’ll be expanded as the project evolves.

🛠️ What’s Next?

In the coming weeks, we plan to focus on:

  • Further decorating and detailing the main level

  • Finishing the tutorial

  • Adding more sound effects and polishing the music

That’s all for now!
Thanks for following the development of Rooms of Delirium. We’re getting closer every week to shaping a complete experience, and we can’t wait to share more with you soon.
